![]() Nokia have announced the Nokia N96 at the MWC 2008. The N96 is set to replace the hugely successful N95 (which has sold over 7 million units), and blimey, does it do it in style!
It comes in the same form factor as the N95, with the dual slide keypad (slide it down to get the keypad, and up to access the dedicated media keys), but looks so much sleeker. It also offers the same enormous range of features. For those unaware of what they are, you get WLAN and HSDPA connectivity, MP3 player and aGPS all built-into the phone. You also get the same 5 megapixel camera as the N95, plus a flash and video light. On top of the N95's features, though, the N96 adds some of its own. You can also listen to music on its MP3 player on any headphone using a standard 3.5mm jack, or listen to your tunes via the built-in 3D stereo speakers. The N96 comes with a whopping 16GB of internal memory built-in (expandable to 24GB through the use of microSDHC cards), which you can use to store pictures, videos, or even TV. In fact, so great is the memory, you can store up to 40 hours of TV content before having to watch it - that's 80 episodes of Neighbours! ![]() The 5 megapixel camera comes with Carl Zeiss optics, a flash and a video light, and so should take pictures that are a step-up from the N95, while the built-in Nokia Maps application lets you view maps with urban details and satellite views, and has upgrade options such as City Guides, turn-by-turn pedestrian mode and voice-guided car navigation.
You can even Geo-Tag your pictures using the built-in aGSP reveiver. In short, the Nokia N96 really is a multimedia computer. The N95 was a fantastic phone, but the N96 takes it to the next level. Personally, I'd rather have a phone with a QWERTY keyboard, as I need web browsing and posting more than all the fancy video and multimedia features, but if I was after a superb multimedia phone, the N96 would be at the top of my list. |
